Carrying Bread to the Multitudes, Inc. (CBM, INC.) celebrated its silver anniversary on November 8th, 2009 with our partners, music, laughs, funny stories, life altering recounts, cries, and most importantly… TOTAL SUCCESS!!
When we first embarked on this mission, we weren’t sure how long we would be around, if anyone would be willing to help us, if we could really help others the way our hearts told us we should!
When Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida, we decided this would be our BIG test to see if we would really be able to make it. We stayed up late into the night, we gathered so many things, and we contacted so many people and make all the correct decisions. It was a success! We were able to deliver clothes, shoes, water, food, medical supplies, medical personnel and medical equipment with the help of United States AirForce.
When the earthquake struck Haiti, we were ready to make all the moves and get those people all the help that we could. We made what felt like millions of phone calls, we gathered so many items and were ready to ship. We made contact with Mrs. Solange Aurelien, founder of Solange Amalia Hospital, in Lavelle Jacmel, Haiti ,and worked with her to get all the items to those in need.
But 25 years later, we look back at our sleepless nights, our long days, our trips, our time away from our family, and the heartache we saw in those faces we helped, and are now so grateful that we took that first step and others followed. Being a non-profit, non-governmental agency showed us that we can do anything that we put our minds to. With the help from our partners, we were able to assist so many from as close as South Miami to as far as Japan.
Each time our phone rings and aid is needed, we don't think about where we will get the finances, the clothes, shoes, or whatever is needed, we just know we need to get it done and NOW!! We have always tried to be there for those that need us. We may not be able to provide all that they need but every little bit helps.
Now with 25 years of service out the way, we are ready for another 125 years.
